Hello,

I make art, teach workshops and create designs inspired by science.
``Art and Science may have different end-goals but they
share imagination, curiosity and a quest for knowledge.``
What

I’ve been a professional artist for over 20 years; making and selling art all over the world, curating shows and teaching workshops. Over time I have become more and more besotted with the interface between art and science. I believe that bringing art and science together is fertile creative territory.

I am particularly drawn to physics: I call it the ‘Wonder’ science. It is a joy to exploring its themes such as; energy, entropy, scale, time and matter. Physics covers the very structure of the universe, from the infinitesimally small, to the unimaginably huge. From particles to waves to fields it is literally AWESOME.

Among my favourite projects, are; a ‘Potato Powered Cosmos’ at CERN, an exhaust pipe ‘organ’ fed with air pollution data and a music synthesizer played by a Geiger counter.

Why

My aim is to share the wonder I feel. I want to make science and technology engaging and accessible, especially to those currently underrepresented. I believe it is important to actively encourage underrepresented voices into these fields to make for a more equitable world.

How

Currently I am working with art, electronics and sound; teaching myself to use Arduino, Raspberry Pi and program with Python to increase the skills and variety of workshops I can teach.

I continue to make artworks and am also opening my online studio shop soon with a range of products to support my aims. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would be interested in collaborating.

My intentions are serious, but my methods are playful.

Science …with a sprinkling of fiction.

This photo was taken from my research award to CERN. As glamorous as this looks, all is not what it seems. As there was an experiment running that day the Large Hadron Collider was off-limits to to non-scientists. A life-size photo is provided for people to stand next to, to look the part. It is a fun fiction deep underground at the heart of CERN!
